The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the consultation meeting held with the members of the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council on the Island of Democracy and Freedoms.
Celebrating World
Women's Entrepreneurship Day on November 19th, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu
pointed out that increasing women's participation in business life is one of
the most fundamental issues of the economy, and said, “A production model based
solely on male power and dominance is not possible - a one-winged bird cannot
fly.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that they have been striving to pave the way for women's entrepreneurship since
the day they took office. “We believe that men and women should be involved in
business life shoulder to shoulder for Turkey. We've always said not to discriminate
between your daughters and sons. We defended equality. From now on, we say make
room for your daughters in company management.”
- TOBB KGK produces projects in 81 provinces
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council, which they established in 2007,
carried out projects in coordination with chambers and exchanges in 81
provinces. “The work of TOBB KGK had a big role in increasing the proportion of
women entrepreneurs from 6% to 10% in our country. I tell our young girls to
be brave about entrepreneurship. Let them consider the idea of entrepreneurship
as a priority when starting their business life.”
Stating that they carry
out national projects with many institutions in order to direct women to
e-commerce, to train new women entrepreneurs and to increase the skills and
competencies of women entrepreneurs, TOBB President said, "Our women
entrepreneur boards in 81 provinces are signing many successful projects both
locally and nationally with this vision. Our women entrepreneur councils have
become project factories.”
- TOBB KGK President Nurten Öztürk
Nurten Öztürk,
President of TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council (KGK), stressed that the
development of countries is possible with the reflection of women's labor on
the economy.
Öztürk said that
women's participation in the workforce is a necessity for the sustainability of
economic and social life, and invited all individuals, institutions and
organizations to pave the way for women's entrepreneurship and contribute to
women's employment.
Nurten Öztürk pointed
out that the place and role of women in business life in Turkey and around the
world is not at the desired point despite positive progress. “I believe that
women's entrepreneurship is not only a gender issue, but also an opportunity
for development, equality and economic development. This new age should not be
a period when natural resources are consumed wantonly; the threats, disasters
and migrations and inequalities created by climate change and environmental
pollution are increasing exponentially. I believe that this era will be
especially the age of women's ascension. Happy World Women's Entrepreneurship
Day.”
