M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), said of the situation of the transporters remaining in the region after Russia's attack on Ukraine, “As a result of our initiatives, the International Road Transport Association (IRU) has called on the European Commission and route countries to return our transporters in the region to our country without visas and passes. We’ve seen support from many countries.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu said on
his Twitter account that they have created a “crisis desk” with ministries,
relevant public institutions, foreign representatives and the International
Association of Shippers (UND) in order to ensure that Turkish trucks and
exports are not adversely affected by the crisis in Ukraine and that the
problems are monitored and resolved instantly.
