Çankırı Commodity Exchange Kızılırmak Sales Hall was opened with a ceremony attended by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.
Hisarcıklıoğlu, in his
speech, said that the importance of agriculture and animal husbandry has
increased with the coronavirus outbreak.
Pointing out that the
whole world has started to rediscover agriculture and animal husbandry with the
coronavirus pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine War, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Allah
has given us a great geography. Look at the last 10 years what are the raw
materials whose price has increased the most. When you look at the raw
materials with the highest price increase, agriculture and animal husbandry are
in the first place. There is profit in agriculture and animal husbandry; you
are in the right place. We need to turn to this business, not to any other
area.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed
out that the Kızılırmak basin should be properly utilized, “In order to obtain
more income and products, we need to conduct a workshop to cover the whole
Kızılırmak basin. Because when we compare other countries in terms of income
and productivity, there is a lot of difference between us. We have a long way
to go,” he said.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that there have been problems in agriculture and animal husbandry in the recent
period and that they have expressed the problems in input costs, “We expect a
base price for wheat in the near future, I hope it will be announced next week.
Our president explained very well last week, I thank him, when he announced the
base price of tea. Hopefully, we are waiting for the announcement of the base
price of wheat that will save our costs, our inputs, and at least make us a
little profitable.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu also
noted that 117 vocational and technical Anatolian high schools in Turkey have
come under the auspices of chambers and commodity exchanges, and that the
occupancy rate of these high schools is 96 percent.
