The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of the June 1, 2022 World Fairs Day, which will be held with the theme of 'The Contribution of Fairs to Economic Recovery' determined by the International Fairs Union for 2022.
Stating that the
exhibition sector has started to recover with the slowdown of the pandemic and
has made a significant contribution to economic growth, Hisarcıklıoğlu included
the following in his message:
“The importance of
fairs in the transformation of production into sales has now been accepted by
the whole world. We have also experienced this importance during the COVID-19
pandemic. The negative consequences of the interruption of the fairs had an
impact on all sectors globally.
It is very pleasing to
see that the exhibition sector, which is one of the sectors most affected by
the COVID-19 pandemic, has started to recover rapidly and that the number of
fairs organized has almost caught up with the pre-pandemic period.
I believe that this
progress will continue and that the sector will reach a better point than
before the pandemic. The sector will continue on its way by increasing its
share in economic development.
As of today, our 38
exhibition organizer companies and exhibition center operations are members of
the International Fairs Association. It is a source of pride for us to see that
the Turkish Fair Organization Sector has both strengthened and activated its
place in the World Fair Organization Sector by organizing fairs in global
criteria.
The sector will play a
key role in the economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. In this sense,
all stakeholders operating in the sector have a great responsibility.
On behalf of the TOBB
Board of Directors, which works for the development of the fair organization
ecosystem in Turkey, I sincerely congratulate the World Fair Organization Day
of our fair organizers, exhibition center operators, exhibition suppliers and
all our stakeholders in this ecosystem.”
