The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the assembly consultation meeting hosted by Eskişehir Commodity Exchange President and TOBB Board Member Ömer Zeydan. Plaques were presented to business people who have made long efforts and contributions in the community, while consultations were held on common issues.
TOBB President
Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out the importance of agriculture and animal husbandry
in his speech and said, “We have seen how strategic agriculture and animal
husbandry are, especially during the pandemic.” Stating that food and animal
husbandry are too strategic to be like any other sector, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “It
is now much more important to create markets where the producer can sell their product
at the real price. In this regard, we have taken very important steps in the
partnership of our Eskişehir Commodity Exchange: We established TMO-TOBB LİDAŞ
together. The seeds we’ve planted together in 2005 have blossomed today. It reached
a capacity of 408,000 tons in 8 regions. In 2019, our Turkey Product
Specialized Exchange - TÜRİB started its activities. Through licensed
warehouses, we have created an online platform to our country where the
manufacturer can sell their product anywhere in Turkey.”
Stating that the Turkey
Product Specialized Exchange reached a transaction volume of 19 billion liras
in 2021, Hisarcıklıoğlu said: “There are two more important systems that we
have brought to our country for the development of the Commodity Exchange
System. One of them is the Electronic Sales Hall System. There should be no
monopoly on trade. Let the manufacturer sell their product at its real price.
Don't deal with just one buyer. Here in our Eskişehir Commodity Exchange, the
electronic sales hall equipped with the latest technology has been put into
service. 50 buyers can bid on the manufacturer's product at the same time, so
the right price is formed. At the same time, with the laboratory established by
the Eskişehir Commodity Exchange, the buyer now knows the quality of the
product they receive. When pricing the manufacturer's product, they gives a
price accordingly. Today, there are 25 Authorized Grading Laboratories in
Turkey. One of them is now in Eskişehir thanks to our Commodity Exchange.
That's transparent, fair trade. The second is the licensed warehousing system
that I just mentioned. The producer does not necessarily need to sell their
product during the harvest period. There is a licensed warehousing system where
they can store their product and sell at its real price. Moreover, there are
regulations such as tax and credit advantages in this system.”
