The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that they will not leave SMEs alone during the production of new technologies, said, “We will direct SMEs to benefit from all the opportunities of the state and ensure that they benefit from the supports.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu, in his
speech at the “Domestic Production with Innovation and the Power of SMEs Event”
held online and attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa
Varank, said that they work in an effective cooperation with Turkcell and that
they aim to make concrete cooperation between Turkcell and SMEs.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said
that with the “Women Writing the Future Project”, they train women in software
and support them to develop technological solutions in the fight against
climate change.
Hisarcıklıoğlu
underlined that they are also involved in Turkey's Automobile TOGG with
Turkcell, “We are working in cooperation to create mobility infrastructure in
our country. With the cooperation we have realized today, we aim to contribute
to the formation of the 5G ecosystem in our country. We want to draw attention
to the indigenization of this technology.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating
that they will not leave SMEs alone during the production of new technologies,
said, “We will direct SMEs to benefit from all the opportunities of the state
and ensure that they benefit from the supports.”
- Call for “industrial
capacity report” for SMEs
Stating that they have
started the supplier development program with Turkcell as of today,
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We will continue the activities within the scope of the
program in the coming months. At the end of the year, we will see the results
of the supply that our SMEs participating in today's event will provide to
Turkcell.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu also
mentioned that TOBB cooperates with many organizations at the point of supplier
development, and said: “During our work, in addition to technology giants such
as Turkcell, leading organizations in the field such as the European Nuclear
Research Center (CERN) and large enterprises from many sectors take part in our
work, including important projects such as Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which is
one of the important projects of our country. The SMEs we invite to these
studies are the companies that have capacity reports or domestic goods
certificates registered in the TOBB Industry Database. If you want to be a
supplier to large enterprises by taking part in these studies, I recommend that
you get your industrial capacity reports as soon as possible and provide your
domestic goods certificates within the scope of the technologies you have
developed. This will make it easy for us to contact you and incorporate you
into our work.”
- Minister Varank
Minister of Industry
and Technology Mustafa Varank also touched on the importance of cooperation of
SMEs with large-scale enterprises.
Reminding that the
“start-up” named Biosys, which combined its power with Baykar, Arçelik and
Aselsan during the Covid-19 pandemic, wrote a success story, Varank said that
thanks to this cooperation, the intensive care ventilator started mass
production in a record time of two weeks.
Varank reported that in
the defense industry, large companies and SMEs came together and carried the
indigenousness rates from 25 percent to 80 percent.
Varank, stating that
the supports for indigenization are not limited to these, said that within the
scope of the Investment Incentive System, high-level technologies such as
Turkey's Automobile, electric vehicle systems, unmanned aerial vehicle
production, National Combat Aircraft production, solar panel production have
been implemented with the project-based support system or the projects are
progressing rapidly.
Varank, stating that he
finds Turkcell's efforts to support the domestic ecosystem and SMEs admirable,
said, “I hope that the Supplier-Oriented Innovation Program, Indigenousness
Program and My Great Partner Program created in this direction will accelerate
the development of the indigenousness ecosystem. I would like to take this
opportunity to invite our other large-scale companies to invest in our SMEs,
which are the future of our country, and to develop their suppliers.”
