17.06.2022 Uşak
The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the opening of the Uşak Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mediation and Compliance Center and the award ceremony value contributors to the Uşak Economy.
In his speech here,
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Uşak has achieved many firsts in the history of the
economy and said, “This place was the first to use electricity in Anatolia.
Industry in Anatolia first appeared in this city. As early as 1905, a yarn and
sugar factory was established here.”
Emphasizing that the
Uşak industry has managed to cluster in recycling today, he said, “Our country
has become both the leader and the brand city in this field. It has proven its
expertise in small leather processing both at home and abroad. Uşak also adds a
different beauty to our country with its carpet, rug, ceramic, sesame, noodle
and tarhana.”
Reminding that cities
that stand together have become brands, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “If there is
unity, you’ll never be brought down to the ground. I would like to thank them
for this modern management approach. Acting together, you have ensured the establishment
of the Uşak Cattle Leather Processing Plant, one of the most modern common use
facilities of Turkey, in Uşak. On the other hand, our three Chamber-Commodity
Exchange Presidents in Uşak are my colleagues in Ankara. We are together with
Selim Kandemir in the TOBB administration. We are working together with Mustafa
Sezer in the Press and Publication Commission and Adalet Ercan in the R&D
and Innovation Board. They represent you in the best way in Ankara. May Allah
be pleased with their efforts.”
Pointing out that the
Chamber and Commodity Exchange have accomplished another good endeavor today,
Hisarcıklıoğlu said: “They have established a Mediation and Arbitration Center.
As you know, the long trials were one of our biggest complaints. Thanks to Mr. Cemil
Çiçek, during his tenure as the Minister of Justice, he took on this job and
introduced the mediation system. In worker-employer, commercial and consumer
disputes, mediation was made compulsory. Within TOBB, we launched the UYUM
Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center. Its chairman was Mr. Cemil Çiçek, the
Speaker of the Assembly. And under his direction, our center developed rapidly.
The use of the system has also increased day by day. Currently, the number of
applications to mediation across the country has reached 100,000 per month. 70
percent of them ended up in a deal. Most importantly, the parties came to a
resolution and parted ways. Now you will be able to resolve all your trade
disputes here, both faster and cheaper. You'll be able to see cases that took
months or even years come to a conclusion here in a matter of weeks. Be sure to
use this opportunity offered to you by our Chamber and Commodity Exchange.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded
that as TOBB, they built the Uşak Vocational and Technical Anatolian High
School with 24 classrooms in Uşak and gave the good news that they will now
build a new school in Karahallı.
Stating that Uşak CCI
and CE will reward those who add value to Uşak, the TOBB President said, “What
our culture says, ingenuity begets compliment. There is an important production
potential in Uşak and we need to appreciate and strengthen it. Look, recently,
we analyzed 90,000 producers and 4,000 products in the TOBB Industry Database.
Accordingly, we have announced the program of leaders of the industry. Uşak is
in the first position in Turkey in terms of production capacity in 18 products,
especially yarn, carpet, leather and woven fabric. It ranks second in 11
products and third in 30 products. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate
all our entrepreneurs who make production and investment in Uşak.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that the Uşak CCI and CE Presidents both carried out efforts that added value
to Uşak and brought every problem of their members to Ankara and sought solutions,
“They became interpreters for your problems during the pandemic. They collected
your problems and suggestions. Together with my brother Selim, we conveyed this
to the government, which is in the executive authority. We also got results
from a significant part of them. A lot of support and arrangements have been
implemented. But our troubles are not over, of course there are problems. We
are constantly voicing these and we are trying to provide solutions.”
Following the speeches,
plaques were given to 11 companies that registered the most in the Uşak
Commodity Exchange and 20 companies that were members of the Uşak Chamber of
Commerce and Industry. After the ceremony, Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the TOBB
Board of Directors Meeting.
