11.08.2022 İpsala Edirne
The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the General Assembly of Umat Customs and Tourism Inc. held in İpsala.
TOBB President
Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded that they established the UMAT in 2001 with a capital
of 8.5 million liras together with the Chambers and Commodity Exchanges in
Thrace to modernize the İpsala Border Gate, and said that İpsala is one of the
most modern gates of the country today.
Stating that the
success they achieved in İpsala was exemplary and that the other gates paved
the way for modernization, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the vehicle and passenger
transit times accelerated 4 times at the modernized border gates. TOBB
President said, “Thanks to these new crossings, Turkey has jumped a class in
logistics. All this was done without spending a single penny from the budget of
our state. All this was done by the presidents of the Chamber and the Commodity
Exchange coming together. The first step of these works was taken by the
Presidents of the Thrace Chamber-Commodity Exchange.
In the past, they were
saying what does the Chamber-Commodity Exchange do? Those days are gone. This
is how Chambers and Commodity Exchanges invest in the future of Turkey. It
gives to the state, it gives to its members.”
