M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), met with Umberto de Pretto, Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU).

During the meeting, which took place at the IRU headquarters in Geneva, the problems faced by international road transport, threats and opportunities for the sector were discussed. In addition, digitalization of transport systems, compliance of road transport with the Green Deal, alternative fuels and emission trading system were discussed. 

Hisarcıklıoğlu brought up the problem of driver visas, which is the bottleneck in front of Türkiye’s exports and which is getting heavier, and demanded that IRU take the initiative to solve the problem.
