The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that Safranbolu saffron has received a geographical indication registration the European Union (EU).

Making a statement on his social media account, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Our first spice registered by the European Union was Safranbolu Saffron. Safranbolu Saffron is our 19^th product to receive a geographical indication registration from the EU. May it be auspicious for our country. I congratulate everyone who contributed. Our work on 45 geographical indications and 5 traditional product names that are in the process of the European Union continues.”
