The President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, issued a congratulatory message regarding the Insurance Week, which will be held between September 30 and October 6.
Hisarcıklıoğlu included
the following statements in his message:
“In recent years, there
has been an increase in natural disasters in our country and all over the
world. Earthquakes, floods, storms and fires have a negative impact on social
and economic life as well as the loss of many lives they cause.
The pain of last year's
earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş is still in our hearts. On the one hand,
we continue to experience the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The protection
products offered by the insurance system for various risks are of great
importance. For economic growth and social welfare, it is not enough to build
industrial facilities and develop new business models and technologies. It is
also necessary to protect the facilities and the gains achieved, in other
words, to ensure sustainability.
To ensure business
continuity and sustainable growth, we must transfer our risks to insurance
companies. In other words, we should insure our houses, factories, workplaces,
trade receivables, and most importantly, our lives and health.
The scope of the
compulsory earthquake insurance offered by TCIP, which is an exemplary practice
for the whole world, is being expanded and transformed into compulsory disaster
insurance (ZAS). With the application that will enter into force in 2025, our
citizens will be protected against risks such as floods, forest fires and
storms as well as earthquakes. The negative effects of the disaster will be
eliminated much faster.
Insurance agencies and
loss adjusters organized under the Insurance Agents Executive Committee (SAİK)
and Insurance Loss Adjusters Executive Committee (SEİK) under the umbrella of
our Association make significant contributions to the healthy development of
the insurance sector in Türkiye. Our agents and loss adjusters will also play
an important role in the implementation of Compulsory Catastrophe Insurance. I
would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our SAİK and SEİK
Presidents and Committee Members who, through their successful work, have
brought the problems of our members in the insurance sector to the agenda in
every environment and ensured that many of them are resolved.
I sincerely
congratulate the Insurance Week of our entire insurance sector, employees and
policyholders, especially our insurance agencies and loss adjusters, with whom
we work together, and wish them healthy and peaceful days.”
