The President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) and Vice President of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the 40th General Assembly Meeting of ICCD held at İstanbul Hilton Bomonti Hotel.
The meeting hosted by
Hisarcıklıoğlu was attended by many names, including ICCD President Abdullah
Saleh Kamel, President of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce Sheikh Khalifa Bin
Jassem Bin Mohammed Al Thani and President of the Federation of Egyptian
Chambers of Commerce Ahmed El Wakeel.
In his speech here,
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they are going through very difficult times as a
geography and emphasized that conflicts and wars have not ended, especially in
the Islamic geography. Stating that protectionism is increasing in trade,
Hisarcıklıoğlu explained that natural disasters and droughts affect a large
segment of the population. Stating that one of the biggest dangers the world
will face in the future is migration waves, TOBB President and ICCD Vice
President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, "We should increase cooperation
between us. If we are brothers, why are we putting obstacles to trade. I am
pleased to see and appreciate the steps on accreditation, i.e. standards, in
the Islamic Chamber."
Stating that the
realization of the Preferential Trade Agreement gives hope, Hisarcıklıoğlu also
gave information about Türkiye's economic structure and production power in his
speech. Describing Türkiye as the most important industrial giant between Italy
and China, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, "We sell 270 billion dollars of industrial
products to the world. We are ready to share our experience and knowledge on
this issue."
A meeting of the ICDD
Board of Directors was also held prior to the ICCD General Assembly.
