The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) is celebrating its 73rd anniversary. “We remember our founders and those who contributed with respect and gratitude,” said TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu in a statement on this meaningful day.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “May
Allah be pleased with everyone who has contributed from yesterday to today. 73
years later, with the same spirit and excitement, we continue to work for
Strong Türkiye and Strong Economy.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded
that TOBB, whose founding law came into force on March 15, 1950, held its first
General Assembly on February 6, 1952, and completed the organ elections on
February 7, 1952 and became de facto, and the first Board Members of TOBB;
Üzeyir Avunduk (Ankara Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Vehbi Koç (Ankara
Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Feyzi Dural (Adana Chamber of Commerce and
Industry), İzzet Akosman (İstanbul Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Şükrü
Kerimzade (İstanbul Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Selahattin Sanver (İzmir
Chamber of Commerce), Osman Kibar (İzmir Chamber of Industry), Haydar Dündar
(İzmir Commodity Exchange) and Aziz Zeytinoğlu (Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce
and Industry).

Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “On February 7, 1952, TOBB Board of Directors held its
first meeting and Üzeyir Avunduk was elected as Chairman, Şükrü Kerimzade as
Vice Chairman and Vehbi Koç as Treasurer. We commemorate our founders and
contributors with respect and gratitude. May Allah be pleased with everyone who
has contributed from yesterday to today.”
