M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), was re-elected as the President of the World Chambers Federation (WCF), which unites the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in 150 countries under one roof.
Hisarcıklıoğlu received
the majority of the votes cast in the electronic voting conducted by the
members of the WCF General Council. Hisarcıklıoğlu's new term will continue for
3 years starting on July 1, 2025.
Making a statement
after the election, Hisarcıklıoğlu said: “The world economy and the global
trade system are going through a difficult period.
At a time when
protectionism is on the rise and trade and tariff wars are raging, institutions
like the WCF, the main global advocate for free and fair trade, have a big role
to play. During my term as WCF President, the organization's main priority will
be to promote rules-based free and fair trade.
In addition, being elected
as the President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye as
the President of the WCF, the global summit of the business world, is a great
pride for the business world of our country.
We will continue to be
the flagbearer of the Turkish private sector in the global environment and
defend its rights. I would like to thank everyone for their support.”

Underlining that it is
a great honor for him to fly the Turkish flag on this platform, Hisarcıklıoğlu
said, “As TOBB, we are elected to the management of all regional and global
institutions and organizations, and we have the honor of representing our
country and our business world.
We are at the top of
global consultation mechanisms. Behind all the positions we hold, there is the
power and support of 366 Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of which I am the
President.”

WCF, headquartered in
Paris, is a global forum of Chambers and Chambers Associations from 150
countries, established to increase the interaction and cooperation of Chambers
at the global level.
WCF, which aims to
strengthen the connections between Chambers around the world and increase their
cooperation, aims to contribute to the improvement of the performance of the
Chambers through the sharing of best practices.
WCF organizes the World
Chambers Congress every two years, which is attended by Chambers from around
the world.
The World Chambers
Congress is the most comprehensive international forum where Chambers and
professionals share best practices, exchange views, connect and get information
on current issues affecting the business world.
