The President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu announced that Afyon pastrami is the 34th product to receive a geographical indication registration the European Union (EU) and expressed his wishes for this registration to be beneficial for Türkiye and Afyonkarahisar.
Congratulating
Afyonkarahisar Commodity Exchange Chairman Mehmet Mühsürler and everyone who
contributed, Hisarcıklıoğlu said: “We have a product diversity that very few
geographies in the world are blessed with. As TOBB and the chamber and exchange
community, we are making great efforts for local and geographically marked products.
We are working on 73 geographical indications and 3 traditional product names
for which the EU process is ongoing.”

received geographical indication registration the EU were listed as
follows:

Aydın fig, Malatya apricot, Aydın chestnut, Milas olive oil, Bayramiç white
peach, Taşköprü garlic, Giresun plump hazelnut, Antakya künefe, Suruç
pomegranate, Çağlayancerit walnut, Gemlik olive, Edremit olive oil, Milas oil
olive, Ayaş tomato, Maraş tarhana, Edremit Gulf green scratch olive, Ezine
cheese, Safranbolu saffron, Aydın Memecik olive oil, Araban garlic, Osmaniye
peanuts, Bingöl honey, Bursa peach, Hüyük strawberry, Bursa black fig, Söke
cotton, Manisa mesir paste, Gaziantep menengiç coffee, Silifke yogurt, Aydın
Memecik olive, Erzincan Tulum cheese, Aydın pine nuts, Afyon pastrami.
