The Entrepreneurial Women of Türkiye Awards Ceremony, organized in collaboration with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council (KGK), and the Turkish Economic Policies Research Foundation (TEPAV), was held with the participation of Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council President Nurten Öztürk, and Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges President Memmed Musayev.
In his speech, TOBB
President Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council was
established on October 29, 2007, on the 84th anniversary of the Republic.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that the Council pioneered the development of an entrepreneurial culture among
women, adding, “With approximately 7,000 members from different sectors, we are
undertaking many projects in 81 provinces and 160 districts, serving as role
models for our women entrepreneurs. Today, you are working like a project
factory. You continue to open new doors for our entrepreneurs with the
entrepreneurship centers we have established in every corner of Anatolia.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that they have been conducting pioneering work to encourage and develop
entrepreneurship among women and young girls in the field, providing mentoring
support through training in many areas, from green transformation to
e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and exports.
Emphasizing that they
offer guarantee packages with the Credit Guarantee Fund to support women
entrepreneurs, Hisarcıklıoğlu continued: “With the increased importance of
hygiene during the pandemic, we are continuing our nationwide hygiene campaign
with the ‘Our Clean Business’ project, led by our Women Entrepreneurs Council
Chair Nurten Öztürk. With the ‘Rising Brands’ project, whose finalists we are
rewarding today, we are guiding our women entrepreneurs on their journey to
branding and exporting. With the ‘women’s touch’ project we have launched in
sectors such as industry, agriculture, construction, and tourism, we are
enabling women to participate in the employment market. Through our ‘Women
Writing the Future’ and ‘Life Made Easy Digitally’ projects, we are teaching
women entrepreneurs how to add value in the digital world. We are establishing
women entrepreneur clubs at our universities, bringing our students together
with entrepreneurs they look up to as role models.”
- “Over the past 20 years, the proportion of women among
entrepreneurs has doubled.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed
out that every corner of Anatolia holds its own potential, noting that over the
past 20 years, the proportion of women among entrepreneurs in Türkiye has
doubled, reaching 12 percent.
Emphasizing that the
TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council has become a brand in the chamber community
worldwide, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that business organizations in Türkiye and other
countries have followed this model to establish women entrepreneur networks.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that TOBB KGK is also a member of the Women’s Empowerment Coordination Council
established by presidential decree.
- “The average growth rate of our companies eligible for
awards for the 2022-2024 period is 615 percent.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that 20 companies received awards in a total of 6 categories, noting that
companies that increased the number of women employees and added value to
corporate life were honored in the “Company That Increased Women Employment the
Most” category.
Hisarcıklıoğlu also
mentioned that companies that increased women employment the most in terms of
percentage and number during the 2023-2024 period received awards, providing
the following information: “The women employment of our applicant companies
increased by 18 percent compared to the previous year. The average number of women
employees at our award-winning companies is 6,816. Our ‘Women’s Entrepreneurial
Power’ category was open only to applications from women entrepreneurs. We
received applications from 26 different provinces. Here, our women
entrepreneurs who grew the fastest, increased their exports the most and the
fastest, digitalized the most, and were the most environmentally friendly were
evaluated based on their performance in the 2022-2024 period. Our award-winning
companies went through a rigorous selection process based on the selected
criteria, and it was seen that the women entrepreneurs who applied grew 1.6
times faster than Türkiye’s nominal national income growth. Sixty-two percent
of the companies that applied export to 63 different countries. The average
growth rate of the companies that won awards for the 2022-2024 period is 615%.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated
that women entrepreneurs from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,
Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan were also present at this
year’s ceremony, noting that these international gatherings deepen cultural and
economic ties.
Hisarcıklıoğlu also
mentioned that awards were presented to the finalists of the Rising Brands
Türkiye Project, adding, “We are aware of how important cash flow and access to
finance are for women entrepreneurs in terms of the sustainability of
production and employment. We also know that encouraging women’s participation
in the business world is of vital importance in fully realizing the economic
potential of every country.”
- “The Women’s Hand in Industry Project has provided
employment to over 80,000 women.”
TOBB KGK President
Öztürk said that the success stories of women entrepreneurs are a powerful
source of inspiration that transforms not only their own businesses but also
their cities, sectors, and Türkiye’s future.
Öztürk stated that they
awarded prizes in two categories this year, saying, “Our first category is
companies that have increased women employment the most. Our second category is
women entrepreneurial power. We also have various subcategories in this
category. For us, it is a great responsibility and honor to appreciate the
efforts of every women entrepreneur, show our support, and encourage more women
to take this journey with courage.”
