TOBB Board Vice President Çetin Osman Budak attended the introductory meeting for the “Electronic General Assembly System” prepared by the Central Registry Institution held in İstanbul.
Also attending the
meeting were Customs and Commerce Minister Hayati Yazıcı, Capital Market
Council President Vahdettin Ertaş, MKK Board President Murat Ulus, MKK Director
General Yakup Yakup Ergincan and representatives of public institutions.
During the meeting,
the “Electronic General Assembly System” mandatory for corporations quoted on
the exchange was introduced. It was reported that the number of companies
holding general assembly online has increased to 437.
Minister Yazıcı
praised the system and stated that it has received awards from international
rating institutions.
According to the 1527th
Clause of the new Turkish Trade Law (TTK), it has become mandatory for
corporations quoted on the exchange to use the “Electronic General Assembly
System” to hold general assembly online.
Facilitating
procedures for companies, especially those with shareholders overseas, the
system has provided decrease in costs, the secure archiving of records
pertaining to general assemblies, correct and complete vote counts, compliance
with institutional management tenets and easy access to records.
