TOBB Board Member İbrahim Burkay attended the Export Oriented Production Strategy Assessment Council meeting presided over by Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci.
Prior to the Export Oriented Production Strategy Assessment Council
meeting at the Ministry, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci took questions from
the press. He stated that they view the Central Bank’s policies to be positive
while they do not view interest as a viable tool for investment, employment or
production in Turkey.
Zeybekci stated that strong, balanced and sustainable recovery of the
global economy has yet to take effect and that the economic reforms and choices
of industrial priorities would be determinative of the developments of the
global markets in the future.
Zeybekçi reported that they have formed incentive packages for 11
strategic investment projects in the new Investment System and stated that the
full actualization of these investments will aid in lowering current deficit
and provide the vertical integration needed by our industry.
During the meeting, TOBB Board Member İbrahim Burkay pointed out that
Turkey has entered into a period of change in all fields and said, “Turkey has
become one of the rising markets of the world. In line with these developments,
change in the nature of foreign trade is also occurring. We are now much more
vocal in defense and aerospace industries, software and communications,
technical counsel, healthcare, transportation, logistics, contractual
construction and education sectors. There are almost no markets we are not a
part of in the international markets.”
Burkay stated that since 2012, 210 chambers have begun active exports.
Over 50 of 65 chambers are exporting goods. 137 of 252 chambers have dedicated
foreign trade departments.
