The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu met with the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy, Štefan Füle on July 5, 2011 in Strasbourg.
During the meeting, prior to Štefan Füle’s visit to Turkey, Turkey-EU relations were discussed. Hisarcıklıoğlu relayed the problems stemming from the negotiations coming to a halt, visa and transport quotas and free trade agreements to Füle, stating that for both Turkey’s and the EU’s benefit, the membership process of Turkey must be made to advance.
Also attending the meeting were TOBB Board Member Harun Karacan and TOBB Presidential Counselor Günter Verheugen.
