The Ease of Doing Business Istanbul Municipalities Workshop Program was organized by the Presidential Investment Office, the Ministry of Environmental Urbanism and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
TOBB Deputy Secretary General Sarp Kalkan said in his
speech here that they have begun their third year of work within the framework
of the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index, which they conducted under
the auspices of Vice President Fuat Oktay.
Kalkan reported that the private sector component of
the endeavor is being coordinated by TOBB, noting that construction permits and
executive bankruptcy processes are the two most important reform areas this
year, stated that in today's workshop, they’ve come together to discuss the
processes, especially construction permits, that are disrupting the work
of municipalities.
Kalkan stressed that the easier the process of doing
business in municipalities is, the better the investment environment will be.
“Investment appetite will increase in Turkey. We are
very happy that Turkey has risen to 33rd place by carrying out
reforms from its rank in the 60s and 70s for many years. The Doing Business
report is an important report comparing regulations which apply to companies in
each country. Our goal is to bring Turkey in to the top 20 countries in the
first phase and then to take it to the summit. We are working to achieve our
goals.”
